Kayak and SUP at the Östanå ferry landing
From 9 August 2026 you can rent kayaks and SUP boards down by the ferry landing. You book online, get a code and collect the equipment yourself, at any hour of the day.
- Single kayak, tandem kayak and SUP board
- Life jacket and paddle included
- Open around the clock, everything is self-service
- Rent from two hours up to several days, the code arrives by SMS and email
Good to know on site
- Launch from the beach, a short carry from the station.
- Toilets and showers are in the service building.
- By public transport: bus 621 to the Östanå Allé stop.
- Paddle in the sheltered bays close to shore, or follow the coast north if you are more experienced.
Watch out for the ferry
The Ljusterö ferry route is busy and the crossing is only 1,100 metres. Never cross in front of a moving ferry, and keep a wide margin.

How to get to Destination Östanå
By car
Destination Östanå is located in Österåker, approximately 50 km northeast of Stockholm. Drive along E18 and follow signs towards Åkersberga. As you approach Östanå, follow the signs to Östanå Slott. There are parking spaces near the castle.
By public transport
You can take bus 626 from Danderyds sjukhus to Östanå färjeläge. From the ferry terminal you can walk to the castle, which takes about 15 minutes. Alternatively, you can take bus 621 from Åkersberga station to the Östanå Allé stop and walk through the beautiful avenue up to the castle.
